Moody Monday :: Ombre

My mood this week is not one colour, it's like a coming together of many. It's like a gradient of one colour going to another.  On my mind, is the resultant of a kind of dipping, soaking and drying process - Ola! and welcome the Ombre look.This look has slowly evolved from hair and beauty, to hippie culture, to our homes, and now to fashion.

Now if a DIY of some kind has been on your mind for a while, the easiest of them all seems to be the Ombre Dip and Dye.

In India we are so familiar with tie-and-dye. I'm sure we've all made many a trip to the road-side dyers for our Indian clothes to make sure something matches exactly with the colour that we want. So what makes you think he won't dye your shirts/shorts/pants?

Here's some of my inspiration of the dip and dye kind. But you should know there's a whole lot more where that came from and it's all on my Pinterest boards.

TIP: I find getting something dyed is a great way to recycle something in your wardrobe that isn't working for you in it's current state of affairs. Don't you think you could easily make these shorts or the shirt above from an old one in your closet?

Dots And Spots

I'm not big on short hemlines (Big and short in the same sentence.. wow!) but you see these polka dots work some kind of magic on me, and I can't help myself. Also the spotted shoes, were something I'd been lusting after since I saw them here.

But did I go out and splurge as soon as I laid my eyes on them. No. It took a whole lot of convincing myself, many sessions of trying out the shoe and then deciding I needed more time with it! And then finally finding out that my size wasn't available anymore! A heartbreak, and several days of waiting for my size to arrive later, these beauties made their way to my home. And then I had to wait for the right occasion to debut my shoe. Until, finally I received a birthday invite.

When you have to dress for a PhotoBooth party, and the invite says "Dress your Best", you can be sure I'll take it seriously! So on the occasion of my friend's birthday that's exactly what I did.

And just to give you an idea of the kind of fun we had, here's a bonus picture of me and my husband.

Don't you just love the power of Polka dots! They just want to have fun.. you can't blame them.

Moody Monday :: Polka Dotty

Mondays are all about not wanting to go to work, reminiscing about the weekend, and wishing that Sunday had never ended - That's why they call them the blues! But Mondays are also about setting the pace for the rest of the week, and getting your groove on.

So every Monday now, I'll share with you my mood for the week. Which will be showcased through images that I come across from time to time on the interwebs.

Today's mood happens to be all about Polka dots. And just like stripes, they are kind of like a summer staple. At once playful, and sexy, as well as modern and vintage, I'm a big fan of polka dots - And definitely obsessing about them this week. See how you can wear them, and turn on your 'Polka Power'!!
